وعش سالما ما رنّحت بانة صبا

وما سبَّحت في السحب ألسِنَة الرعدِ

تصاحب أعمار الزمان محسدا

وتسحب أذيال السعادة والمجدِ

Envying the ages of time, drawing out happiness and glory,

Repeating the good you initiate, though many a generous man doesn't repeat or initiate,

تعيد الذي تبدي من الخير دائما

وكم من كريم لا يعيد ولا يبدىِ

Drinking it red as a rose, coffee

Whose aroma hints of rosy ambergris,

وتشربها حمراء كالورد قهوةً

يعبر رياها عن العنبر الوردِ

It has loves like necklaces around her moods,

A brunette circles them, smiling at the necklace,

لها حبب كالعقد عند مزاجها

تطوف بها سمراء تبسم عن عقدِ

The empty-headed blames me for her,

But his heart isn't my heart, nor his passion my passion.

يلوم عليها فارغ من صبابتي

فلا قلبه قلبي ولا وجده وجدي
