يا ابن نصر وأنت أك
ذب خَلق إذا حلف
O son of Nasr, though you are most
Untruthful when swearing an oath
طبعك الجور والخيا
نةُ والظّلم والجنف
Oppression, betrayal, injustice, tyranny
Are your nature, habits and ethos
يا أقل الأنام في ال
عين مع كبرة الظَفَف
O meanest of men in the eyes
While boasting of greatest éclat
قد عرفناك بالقيا
د وطوبى لمن عرف
We've known you through leadership
Blessed is he who has known
أنت في الدست قاعد
والمصابات في الغرف
You sit planted while disasters
Are shut up in the sanctum
يتقاسمن بالأيو
رِ كما تُقسَمُ التُحَف
Sharing the livelihoods
As gifts are shared
كل شالفة تعد
د لعشاقها الشلف
Each concubine you count
For her ardent lovers
من همايينك التي
خلف الوالد العقف
From your Hmayyin guards
Behind the father, head covered
أنت يا مخلف الموا
عيد حقا أبو خلف
You, O violator of trusts, are truly
Abu Khalaf (father of nothingness)
لا تكلف لسد قو
م بغدادنا الكلف
Do not trouble to block off
Our Baghdad with dams
واطرح كثرة القوا
بير والسفن والعلف
And discard the many
Ships, fodder and provender
حط في الماء راحتي
ك وقد صار كالنجف
Sink your leisure
In the water, now a marsh
