He strode towards me, and the cold of night enveloped me

So I stayed awake, worried, thinking of him

A gazelle who gave me water to drink from his hands

Pure wine like the blood of a gazelle

When he flashes his teeth in a smile

I see a rod that is in his left hand

Does he kiss the roses or the thyme?

Does he smile at the cold or the beauty?

He has a mole that takes my heart

From passionate love, nothing else takes my heart

His cheek continues to glow red

Like a polished sword on pages of beauty

The water of beauty flows until

It becomes like a sharpened, polished sword

Oh God! Will the young man ever

Find refuge from the crescent-shaped eyebrows?

I sing the songs of virgins, I allure

The one with languid eyes and flirtatious glances

A rod in his belt like a dune

Swaying for it the swaying of sands

I stood before him, complaining of my state

While the horizon was belted with Al Jawza

    The moist breeze lingered here

Shaking the branches of bent and straying trees

O ruins of love! Your ruins hid you

With the dawn, the echoes of shadows

If life was harsh, I quenched your thirst

With tears like the downpour of heavy rain

Like the dew of my dear father

Friend of the black-eyed, the pure and unsullied

A youth who is still blessed with gifts

Whose generosity is envied for its perfection

The generous vine whose promises are white

Emptying and filling cups without end

    He pours with virtues spontaneously

Tempting with gifts before being asked

If their needs overcome him, he gives

And is generous before being implored

So he remains their dearest guest

And the bravest, if invited to war

    His generosity relieves the needy

His sword's edge makes spearheads blunt

The years of help rain down his hands

Contention from which one cannot escape

Where each dew is a shower

And what can showers avail over rain?

You hoped for offspring, but you are barren

Who can hope to equal his supreme virtues?

I have affixed my love to my heart

Like pure wine affixed to clear water

I stood at his abode, and lived virtuously

Not asking the impossible about the impossible

My sword, if poverty makes me bare

My right hand though sins be my left

He respects my solitude and protects me

Cleanses my wrongs and tends to my state

I will clothe him in the finest praise

That rivals the finery of beauty's moles

And extol him with the best proverbs

Those peerless in similes and metaphors

Abdullah! You who bestows hands generously

Your shelter is my hope, your call my wealth

    Yours are the greatest favors

That adorned the necks of men

    May you remain throughout time

A permanence not bound to decay

And may your feast return each year

With the luckiest stars and fortune
