1. بورد خدَّيكَ والشقيقِ

    وقدك الأهيف الرشيقِ

    Your cheeks' board and lavender

    And your graceful, delicate perfume

  2. وثقل أردافك اللواتي

    تجفوا على خَمرِك الدقيقِ

    And the heaviness of your thighs that

    Flow on your delicate wine

  3. وبالذي ركب الثنايا

    في فيك درا على عقيقِ

    And by the One who mounted the paths

    In your mouth a pearl on carnelian

  4. لا تمزجن لي الرحيق إلاّ

    بريقك المسكر الرحيقِ

    Do not mix for me the nectar unless

    With your intoxicating radiant nectar

  5. واجعل مديح الهمام صوتي

    على صبوحي وفي غبوقي

    And make the praise of the passionate my voice

    In my morning and nightfall

  6. قد كان سمعي لمن ينادي

    جاء وعيني إلى الطريقِ

    My hearing had been for the one calling

    He came and my eyes to the path

  7. محمود المَاجد المرجّى

    ذو المجد والسؤدد العريقِ

    Mahmoud al-Majid, the hoped for

    Of glory and ancient nobility

  8. علقت منه بأريحيٍّ

    ذي خلق بالندى خليقِ

    I clung to him with comfort

    Of manners with dew, well-mannered

  9. رَبَّ ثرةٍ ووجهٍ

    ندٍ لسؤاله طليقِ

    Lord of abundance and a face

    Helping readily for his request unfettered

  10. ممدح تسرح الأماني

    في روض إحسانه الأنيقِ

    The praised one imagination roams

    In the meadow of his graceful kindness

  11. أشجع من جال يوم حرب

    على طري نهدٍ عتيقِ

    Braver than one who charged on a day of war

    On a firm, long-standing hillside

  12. كالماء ينحط من علو

    والنار في سرعة الحريقِ

    Like water cascading down from on high

    And fire in the speed of blaze

  13. راكبهُ رائع وغادٍ

    يهزُّ بالريح والبروقِ

    His rider sublime and trotting

    Swaying with the wind and lightning

  14. يا ترحة الحاسد المعنَّى

    وفرحة الأهل والصديقِ

    O joy of the envious adversary

    And delight of family and friend

  15. فرجت بالبذل كل هم

    هنا ووسعت كل ضيقِ

    You relieved all worries with generosity

    If a people sleep from rights of generosity

  16. إن نام قوم عن حق جود

    فأنت يقظان للحقوقِ

    You are awake for rights

    One who sacrifices himself and possessions

  17. يفديك من عرضه مباح

    وماله في حمى وثيقِ

    In protection and strong covenant

    If people laugh at praise

  18. إن ضحك الناس من مديح

    رأيته منه في شهيقِ

    I saw it from him in a cry

    You remained for glory as long as I sang

  19. بقيت للمجد ما تغنت

    ورقاء في ضمنها الوريقِ
