1. لا تستمع من قول لاحي

    واشرب على الغرر الصباحِ

    Do not heed the words of the gossip

    And drink at dawn’s dew

  2. راحا ترى ذا الهم ما

    سكنت حشاه ذا ارتياحِ

    You will find sorrow has settled

    In the hearts of the joyful

  3. حَمراء تحسب في زجا

    جتها شقيقا في أقاحِ

    A red camellia is mistaken

    For a narcissus in barren land

  4. يختال شارب كاسها

    بين الشجاعة والسماحِ

    The drinker boasts haughtily

    Between valor and generosity

  5. واتبع سرورك واصلا

    منه غدوك بالرواحِ

    Follow your joy and join it

    At dawn with gladness

  6. فالعيش إن راح الصّبا

    بين التصابي والمزاح

    For life, if youth departs

    Is found between revelry and jest

  7. مع كل معسول اللمى

    خرس البرى شخت الوشاحِ

    With each sweetheart of beauty

    Nature falls silent, veils lifted

  8. ويد البروق تهز في

    جنباتها بين الصفاحِ

    Lightning’s hand shakes

    Among the clouds amidst the hills

  9. والروض مخضر الثَّرى

    ريان مطلول النواحي

    The meadow’s grass is verdant

    Watered, its expanse exposed

  10. والغصن نشوان وعي

    ب أن يراك وأنت صاحي

    The branch is exuberant, aware

    That you see it while awake

  11. قسما بتفاح الخدو

    د ونرجس الحدق الملاحِ

    I swear by lips’ apples

    And the narcissus of sleepy eyes

  12. وغناء معربة يجا

    وبها غنا عجم فصاحِ

    And the song of a foreign nightingale

    Its melody transcending speech

  13. أني لاهوى ضجة الن

    ندمان في فلق الصباحِ

    That I love the clamor of regret

    At dawn’s first light

  14. والمدح للمولى أبي ال

    فضل الكريم المستماحِ

    My praise to the Master Abu Al-Fadl

    The generous, forgiving lord

  15. رب السِّرى قمر الندى

    شمس الهدى أسد الكفاحِ

    Moon of dew, sun of guidance

    Lion of valor in battle

  16. مثلوم مال حين يس

    أل رفده ملثوم راحِ

    Like wealth when asked

    He gives, though banned from charity

  17. أعداؤه في النوح من

    ه وآملوه في التياحِ

    His enemies lament him

    And hope for his downfall

  18. أحيا إذا سئل المكا

    رم من مخبّأة رداحِ

    Revived when asked for bounty

    From his concealed quiver

  19. وأشد متقح بسي

    ف في ململمةٍ رداحٍ

    Fiercer still with sword

    In the fray of thrusting spears

  20. وكأنه ليث بع

    ثر عند مشتجر الرماحِ

    As if a lion unleashed

    Among thickets of lances

  21. ذو السؤدد العبق الصري

    ح المجد والنسب الصراحِ

    Of splendid origin, fragrant lineage

    Glory, and direct descent

  22. وأحل من رحالهم

    منه وثوقا بالنجاحِ

    More steadfast than their steeds

    Trusting in success

  23. في رفقةٍ عصب طلا

    ح فوق أنضاءٍ طلاحِ

    In brave company, warriors

    Above polished swords

  24. ما إن على مطري أَبي ال

    فضل الممدح من جناحِ

    When mounted, Abu Al-Fadl

    Has no peer in might

  25. ملك له عزم يفل

    ل بعزمه غرب الصفاحِ

    A king whose resolve

    Outdoes the west wind’s power

  26. وخلائق معسولة

    كالخمر والماء القراحِ

    Of charming temperament

    Like wine and cool water

  27. مولاي مجد الدين دي

    نك دائما حب السماحِ

    My lord, Glory of the Faith

    Yours is ever the way of generosity

  28. ما لاح بشرك لامرىء

    إلا وأيقن بالفلاحِ

    None reproached your nobility

    Save those expecting redemption

  29. بك أصلح الدهر الخؤو

    ن وكف من غرب الجماحِ

    Through you the age was reformed

    And the west wind subdued
