1. أَرى مِنكَ وَجهَ الصَدِّ لا يَتَغيَّرُ

    وَوَصلُكِ هِنداً في الهَوى يَتَعَذَّرُ

    I see rejection on your face that does not change

    And staying connected to you in love becomes difficult

  2. أُعَلِّلُ نَفسي بِالوَعيدِ لزورَةٍ

    ومن دونِها طرفُ الفَتى يَتَحَسَّرُ

    I make excuses to myself for Zorah’s threat

    While without her the young man’s eye grieves

  3. أَغَرَّكِ هِندٌ جفوة العَينِ لِلبُكا

    وَرُؤياكِ من عيني الدِما تَتَحَدَّرُ

    Did the coldness of Hinda's eye to crying deceive you

    And your vision from my tearful eyes streams down

  4. فَصِرتِ لِقَتلي عامِداً تَتَحَمَّلي

    إِلى اللَهِ أَشكو إِنَّهُ مِنكِ أَقدَرُ

    So you have become intent on killing me, undertaking

    To Allah I complain, indeed it is mightier than you

  5. لَأَلقى امرءاً خِلُّ المَكارِمِ وَالنَدى

    وَحَسبيَ في خَيرِ امرىءٍ حينَ يَذكُرُ

    I will meet a man deficient of perfection and grace

    And it suffices me the goodness of a man when he remembers

  6. بِقَصدِ المهيّا فزت بِالخَيرِ وَالرَضا

    وَما زالَ مَن يَرجوهُ بِالبِرِّ يَظفَرُ

    With the intention of the aspired I excelled in goodness and consent

    And he who hopes for it with righteousness always succeeds

  7. فَلِلَّهِ دَرُّ السَيِّدِ بن مُفَرِّجٍ

    فَتىً فاضِلٌ حُلوُ الشَمائِلِ خَيِّرُ

    So the worth of the master ibn Mufarraj

    A noble young man, beautiful traits, most virtuous

  8. عَجِبتُ لِفَضلٍ فيهِ لَمّا رأَيتُهُ

    وَما زِلتُ في أَفعالِهِ أَتَفَكَّرُ

    I wondered at the virtue in him when I saw him

    And I did not cease to ponder his deeds

  9. لَهُ هِمَّة تَعلو عَلى كُلِّ هِمَّةٍ

    وَرأيٌ حَصيفُ في الأُمورِ مُدَبِّرُ

    He has an ambition that rises above any ambition

    And wise opinion in matters, well-considered

  10. مُقيمٌ لأهلِ القَصدِ بِالبَذلِ لِلعَطا

    فِمِن وارِدٍ يَرجو وآخر يَصدُرِ

    Establishing the people of moderation by giving generously

    So some come hoping while others depart

  11. يَرى أَنَّ مَن والاهُ أَعظَم مِنَّةً

    إِذا جاءهُ بِالقاصِدينَ مُبَشِّرُ

    He sees that one who befriends him has done greater favor

    When the aspiring ones come to him bearing good news

  12. وَإِنّي لأَدري أَنَّ في القَصدِ نَحوَهُ

    بُلوغَ الرِضا فيما أُحِبُّ وَأُثِرُ

    And I know that in aspiring towards him

    Is achieving consent in what I love and prefer

  13. رِضىً كامِل لِلفَضلِ وَالدينِ وَالسَخا

    وَأَصلٌ بِهِ أَصلُ المَناقِبِ يَفخَرُ

    Complete consent to merit, religion and generosity

    And through it the origin of glories to be proud of

  14. أَماطَت يَداهُ الفَقر بِالجودِ وَالنَدى

    وَقارَنه في النَيل من كان يَقتُرُ

    His hands removed poverty through munificence and grace

    And he attained the heights from which others fall short

  15. إِذا رامَ راجٍ قَصدَهُ وَهوَ مُعدَمٌ

    فَلا مطله يَخشى وَلا الرَد يَحذَرُ

    When an aspirant sought him while destitute

    No delay he fears, nor refusal he worries about

  16. أَلفَت النَدى يأَبى الجَديد وَلَم تَزَل

    أَحاديثك الحُسنى مَدى الدَهرِ تَنشُرُ

    Grace has accustomed him, he refuses the novelties

    And your goodly tales ceaselessly spread forever

  17. هَنيئاً لك العيد الَّذي أَنت عيده

    وَلا زالَت الأَعياد عندك تَكثُرُ

    Congratulations on the feast which you are its feast

    And the feasts do not cease to multiply with you

  18. وَقابل فيهِ السَعدُ وَاليمن وَالرِضا

    وَكل الَّذي تَرجوه سَهلٌ مُيَسَّرُ

    In it met happiness, prosperity and consent

    And all that you hope for is smooth and facilitated
