سَلا أَحِبَّتَه من لَم يَذُق كَمَدا

يَومَ الفِراقِ وَلَو أَذرى الدُموعَ دَما

Whoever has not tasted separation from his beloved

On the day of parting, even if he sheds blood instead of tears

إِنّي أَسأتُ إِلى سَمعي بفرقتهم

أَنا ظَلمتُ ومن أَهواهُ ما ظَلما

I have wronged my hearing by parting from them

I have done wrong, and the one I love has done no wrong
