The eye of contentment is blind to every flaw,

Yet the eye of displeasure reveals all defects.

I do not fawn on those who do not fear me,

Nor do I expect from others what I do not expect from myself.

If you draw near me, you will find my affection,

Yet if you shun me, you will find me keeping my distance.

We can both live without needing one another,

Yet when dead, we cling to one another tightly.
