عَلَيَّ ثِيابٌ لَو تُباعُ جَميعُها
بِفَلسٍ لَكانَ الفَلسُ مِنهُنَّ أَكثَرا
I wear garments that, if all were sold,
For a fals, the fals would be worth more than they.
فيهِنَّ نَفسٌ لَو تُقاسُ بِبَعضِها
نُفوسُ الوَرى كانَت أَجَلَّ وَأَكبَرا
Within them is a soul which, if the souls of mortals

ما ضَرَّ نَصلَ السَيفِ إِخلاقُ غِمدِهِ
إِذا كانَ عَضباً حَيثُ وَجَّهتَهُ فَرى
