لمّا عفوتُ ولم أحقد على أحَدٍ

أرحتُ نفسيَ من هَمِّ العداواتِ

When I forgave and did not resent anyone,

I relieved myself of the concerns of enmities.

إنّي أُحَيِّي عدوّي عند رؤيتهِ

لأدفعَ الشرَّ عني بالتحياتِ

I greet my enemy when I see him

to ward off harm from me with greetings.

ولستُ أبغي وإن بغيٌ يكفِّفني

كفاني البغيَ جبارُ السماوات

And I do not want, even if one wants to belittle me,

Sufficient for me is the Want of the Lord of the Heavens.

والغل والحقد من يخلع لباسهما

فقد تلبَّس أثوابَ الدياناتِ

Whoever takes off the clothes of hatred and rancour

has dressed in the clothes of religions.

أُخفي جميلاً كما أُبدي ويسترني

من البليّات علّامُ الخفيّاتِ

He hides good just as He discloses, and the Knower of the Unseen protects me

from calamities.
