بنفسي حبيب سوف يثكلني نفسي

ويجعل جسمي تحفة اللحد والرَّمسِ

With my own self, my beloved will bereave me of my soul

And make my body the adornment of the grave and wormwood

لقد ضاقت الدنيا عَليَّ بأسرها

بإعراضِه عنّي كأنيَ في حَبسِ

The whole world has become too narrow for me

With his aloofness from me as if I am in prison

جحدتُ الهوى إذ كنتُ مذ جعل الهوى

محاسنَه شمساً نظرتُ الى الشمسِ

I denied passion when I was, since passion made

Its charms a sun I looked upon the sun

لأُسكِنَ قلباً فيه قد صار مأتم

من الشوق إلا أنَّ عينيَّ في عرسِ

To settle a heart in which there has become a funeral

Of yearning except that my eyes are at a wedding
