أنا الغريب وإن أصبحتُ في وطني

إذا تغيّبتَ عنّي يا أبا الحَسَنِ

Though I live in my own land, I am a stranger here

When you are absent from me, O Abu Al-Hasan

أوحى إليَّ فؤادي حين أخبرني

بأنَّ لي فَرَجاً من ذلك الحَزَنِ

My heart whispers to me when it tells me

That I have solace from that sadness

تاللهِ لا سكنت روحي إلى أحَدٍ

حتّى يعود إلى أوطانه سَكَني

By Allah, my soul will find no rest in anyone

Until it returns to its true home once again

هذا وإن تسلك الأجسامُ ثانيةً

على الحقيقة والأرواحُ في قَرَنِ

Though bodies may travel different paths

While souls remain paired as one

راح التناسخ عني يومَ ودَّعَني

وراحَ مُحتَمِلاً روحَين في بَدَنِ

The notion of reincarnation left me the day

It took my soul, carrying two spirits in one body
