فهيهات هل يخفى على الظُّلمة البَدرُ

They say poetry has concealed his beauty

How absurd! Can the full moon be concealed by darkness?

كم بين أرضٍ قِفارٍ لا نباتَ بها

وأرضٍ اُخرى عليها النبت والزهرُ

What a difference between barren land, devoid of all plants

And another land covered in vegetation and flowers
