1. ريحُ شوقٍ للبَين كانت سَموما

    ثم عادت عند اللقاء نسيما

    The wind of longing for the separated was poison,

    Then it became a breeze at the reunion.

  2. فهي بالأمس نار نمرود كانت

    وهي اليوم نار إبراهيما

    Yesterday it was the fire of Nimrod,

    Today it is the fire of Abraham.

  3. ما أمرَّ الخروج من بلدة في

    ها حبيبي وما ألذَّ القدوما

    What made going out of a town pleasant,

    My love, and how sweet is the arrival!

  4. سُمِّيَت وقفةُ التفرُّق تسلي

    ماً كما سُمِّيَ اللَّديغُ سليما

    The stop of parting was named entertainment,

    Just as stinging was named healthy.

  5. ذقتُ طعمَي تفرُّقٍ ولقاءٍ

    كدتُ من فرط ذا وذا أن أهيما

    I tasted the flavor of parting and reunion,

    I almost went crazy from too much of this and that.

  6. وكأنّي ولم أرَ النارَ والجَن

    نَةَ ذقتُ الغِسلينَ والتسنيما

    It is as if I had not seen fire or paradise,

    Yet I tasted washing and breeze.

  7. ففراقُ المعشوقِ والهلكُ سيّا

    ن وإن كان ذا وذاك عظيما

    Parting from the beloved and perishing are evil,

    Even if this and that are great.

  8. ليس فقدان مَن يُفِيدُ الصَبابا

    تِ كفقدان مَن يُفيد النعيما

    Losing one who benefits youth

    Is not like losing one who benefits bliss.

  9. كن عنياً فإن كلَّ حبيبٍ

    لم يزل قاسياً يكون رحيما

    Be gentle, for every beloved

    Who was harsh becomes kind.

  10. ما تراني عند الأنام جميعاً

    صرتُ بالسيِّد الكريم كريما

    You do not see the sun when the horizon hides it,

    Yet it extends the glow to the stars.

  11. خدمَتني القلوبُ حتّى كأنّي

    مت باللحد خلتني مخدوما

    You corrected for me the affection of my days,

    Though their love was sickly.

  12. يا أبا القاسم المهيب المرجّى

    بك أُكرِمتُ ظاعناً ومُقيما

    You sheltered me when people dismissed my hopes,

    Dismissing the orphan's guardian.

  13. وحَقيقٌ لعُظم قدرك أن يُظ

    هرَ في أوليائك التعظيما

    You mended hope though it was in ruins,

    Then you made it fruitful though it was barren.

  14. ما ترى الشمسَ حين يحجبها الأف

    قُ يمدُّ الضياءُ منها النجوما

    So one who sees the relief of my harm says,

    “My Lord gives life to fragile bones."

  15. أنتَ صَحَّحتَ لي مودَّةَ أيّا

    مي وقد كان ودُّهنَّ سقيما

    You purified my wishes for me and they became

    Hopes rising high though they were worries.

  16. أنت آويتَني وقد طرد النا

    سُ رجائي طردَ الوصيِّ اليتيما

    So my name became honored by your hands,

    Shameless yet it was beastly before.

  17. ورَمَمتَ الرجاءَ وهو رميمٌ

    ثم أنتجتَه وكان عقيما

    Your gifts clothed me in a robe that,

    By your name, became embroidered among all people.

  18. فيقول الذي يرى كشفَ ضرّي

    إن ربي يُحيي العظام الرميما

    If I were silent in thanking the effects of Your bounty,

    The speaking would speak to the silent.

  19. قد زكت لي بك الأماني وصارت

    همماً ترتقي وكانت هموما

    Your great fortune touched me until I saw

    My fortune as great though it was worries.

  20. فغدا اسمي مُحجَّلاً بأيادي

    ك أغرّاً وكان قبلُ بهيما

    If a deprived one saw your image in a dream,

    Your imagination would suffice the deprived.

  21. ألبستني نعماك ثوباً غدا باس

    مك في الناس كلِّهم مرقوما

    Your nature requires your generous self,

    As the creditor requires the debtor.

  22. فلو اَنِّي سكتُّ عن شكر آثا

    رِكَ كلَّمنَ ذا الورى تكليما

    You protected us when the nights neglected us,

    So we praised through you the despicable time.

  23. مَسَّني حظُّك الجسيم فأعدا

    نيَ حتى رأيتُ حظي جسيما

    The world thanked you, so it gave you

    General, accessible, and allotted reward.

  24. لو رأى في المنام طيفَك محرو

    مٌ لأغنى خيالُك المحروما

    You beautified it, so you showed in it

    Generosity when people showed blame.

  25. وسجاياك تقتضي نفسَك الجو

    دَ كما يقتضي الغريمُ الغريما

    Whenever it is said, “May your goodness last,”

    Generosity says “Amen,” desiring it to last.

  26. صُنتَنا حين أهملَتنا الليالي

    فحمدنا بك الزمانَ الذميما

    We will never lack the shadows of your gifts covering the land,

    Or lack one who is destitute on it.

  27. شكرَتكَ الدنيا فأعطَتكَ تنبي

    هاً مشاعاً ونائلاً مقسوما

  28. أنت زَيَّنتَها فأظهرتَ فيها

    كرماً حين أظهر الناسُ لُوما

  29. كلّما قيل دام خيرُك قال ال

    جُودُ آمِينَ رغبةً أن يدوما

  30. لا عدمنا ظِلال نعماك تغشى ال

    أرضَ أو لا ترى عليها عَدِيما
