كَرم في سترٍ وخِدرِ

A bride of noble birth,

برزت في خير دَرٍّ

وعليها عِقد دُرِّ

Appeared in finest garb—

Pearls on her brow—

لو تراها في يدَي أح

سنَ من يوسف مصرِ

Held by the hand of one

Fairer than Joseph of Egypt.

قلتَ شمسٌ تتلالا

طلعت في كفِّ بدرِ

You would have said the sun

Rose in the full moon's palm.
