ونواعمٍ بيض الوجوه سبَينَني

بحديثهنَّ وقد هَدا السُّمّارُ

Fair-faced girls with slender waists distracted me

With their talk after the night was lit by the Pleiades.

يخطرنَ في بيض الثياب وصُفرِها

خمصُ البطون نواهدٌ أبكارُ

They moved about in white and yellow robes,

Slender-waisted virgins, tender and pure.

حتى إذا انبلج الصباحُ لناظري

ودَّعنَني ودموعُهنَّ غزارُ

When dawn began to break before my eyes,

They said farewell, their tears flowing freely.

فسألتُهنَّ عن الزيارة قُلنَ لي

زُرنا فقد زرناك يا غَدّارُ

When I asked about another visit, they said:

"Visit us, for we have already visited you, O fickle one!"
