مولاي تمطلني غداً فغدا

وأرى غداً لا ينقضي أبدا

My Master, you delay tomorrow and tomorrow

And I see tomorrow never ending

أحييتَني بالوعد يا أملي

ومطلتَني فأمَتَّني كمدا

You revived me with promise, O my hope

And you delayed me until like death you made me

لا تنسَ عهدك لي فأوفِ به

إن الكريم يفي إذا وعدا

Do not forget your promise to me, so fulfill it

For the generous one fulfills when he promises

ما لي أرى كلَّ العيون إذا

نظرت إليك تغايرت حسدا

What is with me, I see every eye

When it looks upon you, envious it becomes

لا تظهرن والشمس طالعة

لا تدَّعيك لنفسها ولدا

Do not appear while the sun is rising

Do not claim it for yourself as a son

خطراتُ قلبي في طرائقها

تذر القلوبَ طرائقاً قِددا

My heart's whims in its ways

Make hearts ways rugged

لم تُبقِ لي جَلَداً ولا تركت

عيناك قطُّ لعاشِق جَلَدا

You left me no patience, and your eyes left

For no lover, ever, patience

مولاي يا هارون زُر دَنِفاً

إن لم تزره اليوم مات غدا

My Master, O Harun visit Daneef

For if you do not visit him today, tomorrow he dies
