How much I reveled in love and suffered in it,

How often I died in it and came back to life.

If I was perhaps angry with fate for some sin,

I have long been content with whatever befell me.

May God torment the envious one who poisons life,

For the beloved's night has been long.

The envious want nothing from me, rather

Everything from a hated one is hateful.
