O mother of Amr, do not weep helplessly
For your brother as the mourner proclaims him
So weep ceaselessly, lamenting bitterly
For your exalted, noble brother
You have been bereaved of Maymun, whose leadership
Was most eminent, a lion in times of peril
For who do we have if we lose him and he leaves us
With no lord behind the people as defender
He used to summon his tribe as their lord
May he not be far, excellent was that summoner
