1. مَتى تَقرِن أَصَمَّ بِحَبلِ أَعشى

    يَلُجّا في الضَلالَةِ وَالخَسارِ

    Whenever you tether a deaf man by a rope to a night-blind man,

    the two plunge on into error and loss.

  2. فَلَستُ بِمُبصِرٍ شَيئاً يَراهُ

    وَليسَ بِسامِعٍ مِنّي حِواري

    For I cannot see a thing that he sees,

    nor can he hear my words to him.
