Have you not seen how strange is the wonderful

For the people of Qilaba have fickle hearts

Their noses in pride of manner and style

And the hair of the youngster with perfume smeared

Oh, the coarse fellow vigilant for the hunt

Who with hand makes haste the perfumed to seize

The people of virtue, dignity and poise

Of wine, and syrup and raisins to appease
