إن حل شاما أو عراقا
My soul be ransom for one who is absent,
whether he sojourns in the Levant or Iraq.
إن غاب غاب به السرو
ر وإن دنا شيئا فعاقا
If he is gone, gone with him is jo—
—y; and if he draws even a little near, he is held back.
روحان ضمّهما هوىً
جسمان قد ضمنا اعتناقا
Two souls brought together by love;
