Take my words and what I recite sincerely
And my bad luck and passion—it's like embers
I prepared water and soap slowly
Secretly, with no human knowing of me
And I said to my soul, “Rise and wash before dawn
Secretly, and steal it from the hands of others”
The gazelle has fallen in love
As the weather turns green in its clothes
I kept my matter concealed, fearing an accident
So my passion slept, concealed by the rain
The floods came, flowing in their clouds
So my washing and their water were predestined
I remained thunderstruck, clothes drenched
As words laughed at me like mocking ducks
So praise God—words have fallen in love with me
Since I dreamed, until I grew old from age
They said, “You will be rewarded for this,” so I said,
“Take my reward and let me journey on”
