ألام على أخذ القليل وإنّني

أقاسي أناسا هم أقل من الذر

Little I take, yet they blame me

I suffer people lesser than dust

فإن أنا لم آخذ قليلا حرمته

ولا بدّ من شيء يعين على الدهر

If I take not some small thing, I lose it

I must have something to aid me through time
