I drank a draught for what of you lies in my heart,
of many kinds of medicine, to quiet my obsessive thoughts:
with pears of parting, in sesban a solace,
and jujubes—yet it makes the despairing more desperate.
We strengthened it until, once the medicine had taken effect,
I shat out my love of you after the touch of one that clings.
