يا غرفتي إن غرفة نطقت

فصفي لهم بعدي إذا حضروا

O my room, if you could speak

Describe me to them after I'm gone

وإذا همُ احتملوا إلى ترب

جسدي وإن رجعوا وقد قبروا

And if they carry my body

To be buried in the earth

قولي الذي عاينت شاهده

فالنفس يبطل ظنّها النظر

Tell them what you witnessed

For the soul's assumptions are invalidated by sight

والله ما كشفت بعرضتها

عن سوءة أنثى ولا ذكر

By God I did not in you

Reveal any female's or male's private parts

ولقد سكنتك مرّة مرحا

مالي لى ذي عورة وطار

And I once lived in you innocently

Without anything private exposed

فإن استرابوا بي ولم تصفي

فاللّه ما من دونه وزرُ

So if they doubt me and you do not describe me

Then God knows I have no burden

هو شاهد لي في ضمائرهم

لقبيح ما قالوا وما ذكروا

He is my witness in their consciences

Against any ugly thing they say or mention
