    وغاية الصبر ما يدني من الفرج

    من التجمّل كالمنبوذ في اللجج

    Patience is best, except that its companion

    Is shunned like an outcast in hard terrain.

  3. ذخيرة الدمع يوم البين أنفقها

    فقد التجمّل من فرد ومزدوج

    My supply of tears on the day we parted, I spent it.

    So composure left me, both when alone and together.

  4. وما على محرج فاضت مدامعهُ

    يوم الفراق على الخدّين من حرج

    And my eyes overflowed with tears uncontrollably
