Enough of sorrow that sixty-four
Of my years have passed like verses of poetry
And I did not find in them a companion of insight
To be a helper for me in this time
I sought them in every clan and abode
But did not find among them
A hand of sincerity and loyalty to grasp mine
And pledge me its troth, nor did I thank them with my tongue
I went along with the brethren, observant of loyalty’s duty
But when they turned away from me, I drew in my reins
