هويت انفرادي والأخلّاء برهة

وكم غائب عن ناظري وهو حاضر

For a time I loved my solitude—and my dear friends;

أبايع أصحابي وأهجر جمعهم

إذا لم يكن في مجمع القوم طاهر

I pledge myself to my companions, yet forsake their gathering

if among the assembled folk there is no one pure.
