ولي في عكبَرا إخوان صدق

توافوا لي بأخلاق الظراف

I have brothers in Akbar who are sincere friends

They came together to me with gentle morals

كلام طيب وسلام سلم

رضوا لي في الهديّة بالكفاف

Kind words and greetings of peace

They were satisfied with me with sufficiency as a gift

ضياعهم الكروم وهم كرام

على التأكيد في لفظ الخلاف

Their vineyards are lost yet they are generous

Surely in their words of disagreement

فأيّامُ الكساح يقاربوني

ويمتنعون أيّام القطاف

During days of drought they draw near me

And abstain during days of harvest
