ما دام شيء ولا يدوم

فلا تمادى بك الهموم

As long as a thing endures, it will not last

So do not let your worries persist

يوم نعيم ويوم بؤس

لا البؤس يبقى ولا النعيم

A day of bliss and a day of misery

Neither the misery remains, nor the bliss

والصبر عند البلاء أولى

من جزَع همّه أليم

Patience in adversity is best

Than agonizing grief and distress

وخيرةُ الأمر في القضايا

ما اختارهُ السيد الكريم

And the best course in matters

Is what the Generous Lord selects
