They saw him in a state of madness, so

They did not doubt that madness was in his mind

And they saw his body wasting away in grief

So it was said magic had spread through his body

The doctors said an illness had settled

In his heart and leaned towards his liver

How many a potion they made him drink but it was no use

Rather, drinking the medicine increased his suffering

And how many talismans and charms they tied

To strengthen him, but to no avail

He is stricken by what ails him

If he does not die tomorrow, then the day after
