I have become weary from the days in haste

And from my early hopes in repose

And each day that comes upon me teaches me

That I am at the brink of death, anxious and wary

And I do not doubt, though my life be long

That my day is between Pisces and Aries

I blame myself and spur my soul from laziness

Upon waking at night to work

And it acquiesces to my blame and chides me

While it is compliant, it calls me to laziness

With what I have seen, my heart turns blind

My eyes look upon the changes of people in fortunes

How many have spent the night in might and generosity

    Among clans, wealth, and youth

Yet morning found them assaulted by fate

Or mishaps after might and vigor

And spent the night between sheets of soil in shroud

Or held captive in shackles and chains

Or honored but spent the night restless

From illness, side by side, prisoner of harm and ailments

Each day of my death is a day I loathe

Followed by a day of continuous horrors

For death equalizes, and its occurrences

Do not differentiate between kings and lowly sellers
