دنيا تسلمتها من معشر نبل

أهل الفصاحة والآداب والحسَبِ

The world I received from a noble group

Of eloquence, refinement, and pedigree

حتى إذا ميتتي حانت تسلّمها

مني أناس بلا عقل ولا أدب

Yet when I pass, it will fall into the hands

Of the senseless and boorish, alas for me!
