فلقد أحسن جدّي

I thank God abundantly

For He has been good to me

على السفرة وحدي

I have no son nor any

At my table but just me

إنما أجلس في البيت

على السفرة وحدي

I sit at home alone

At my table just me

فإذا نمت فقطي

وحمامي عند خدّي

When I sleep only my cat

And dove are at my head

وإذا أغلقت بابي

فكأنّي في شلندي

When I close my door

It's as if I'm in Scotland

ما أبالي بعد هذا

كيف كان الناس بعدي

After this I don't care

How people will be without me
