إن عابني أهل ودّي في ونى أودي

عند التخلّف أيام الملمّات

If my own tribe reproach me when I fail

To visit them in times of tribulation,

كان الجواب احضروني في ولائمكم

واستحضروني أيّام المصيبات

My answer is: remind me when you feast,

And summon me on days of celebration.

كم قد مرضت فما عدتم ولم أر لي

منكم معينا على ايّام فاقاتي

How oft I've been diseased, and none of you

Came to assist me in my times of need!

فصالحوني بلا عتب على أحد

متى تخلفت أيام العيادات

Make peace with me, reproach me not at all,

If I'm remiss in visiting when you're ill.
