سلام الفقير على موسرٍ

بلا حاجة منه نقص وذلّ

The poor man's greeting to the rich

Without need is lessening and humiliation

فإن عرضت حاجة كان ذاك

وإن لم تكن فهو ذلّ وغلّ

If you present a need that would be acceptable

And if not, it is still humiliation and burden

لأن الفقير خلاف الغنيّ

فهذا يشدّ وهذا يحلّ

For the poor unlike the rich
