يا بعيد المزار أنت قريب

من فؤادي وإن حللت بعيدا

O you who are far from visitation, you are close

To my heart though you have settled far away

كيف يروى من ماء وجهك طرفي

وهو ظام وقد منعت الورودا

How can my eyes be quenched from the water of your face

When it is dark and roses are denied?

كلما زدت بالتباعد حبي

ك أعاد البعاد حبّا جديدا

The more you increase distance with estrangement

Absence restores a love anew

فلو أني أردت ما عشت في

الحب مزيدا لما وجدت مزيدا

If I had wanted not to live any longer in

Love more, I would not have found more

من أطاع الهوى فأقلقه الشو

ق لقي بالصدود خطبا شديدا

He who obeys desire is disquieted by passion

And meets with rejection much distress
