هجرت المساوئ والمنكرات

وإنّي أحبّهما أن يكونا

I have abandoned evils and wrongdoings

Though I wish they would still be

وجبت البلاد وأقطارها ال

فساح جميعا فخفت القرونا

I have traversed countries and lands

Roaming them all so eras would pass

ودوخت أرضا بفعلي

غرورا فأخشى الظنونا

And I have exhausted the earth through my actions

Out of arrogance, so I fear suspicions

وشخصٌ يقاس بفطنته

سمين وغثّ ترى فيه لينا

A person is measured by his wisdom

Fat and thin, in him you see softness

فمن فطنتي وذكا همّتي

أكلت الهزيل وعفت السمينا

Through my wisdom and determination

I have eaten the thin and avoided the fat

وما ذاك جهلا ولكنّني

رايت المطامع تدني المنونا

And that is not out of ignorance, but

I have seen greed brings death closer

رأيت بعين الصفا أنّني

تراني العيون فخفت العيونا

With a clear vision I saw that

Eyes see me, so I feared eyes
