دُموعٌ دَعاهُنَّ الهَوى فَأَجَبنَهُ
تَحَدَّرنَ شَتّى وَهيَ تَجري عَلى خَدّي
Tears—Love called to them, and they answered him.
They streamed down in scattered courses, flowing over my cheek.
تَكِلُّ جُفونُ العَينِ عَن حَملِ مائِها
فَتُبدي الَّذي أُخفي وَتُخفي الَّذي أُبدي
My eyelids took the burden upon themselves, relieving the eye of bearing its water.
And so it reveals what I conceal, and conceals what I reveal.
