بِأُنسِ الحَبيبِ يَطيبُ السَمَر

وَتَلتَذُّ عَينايَ طولَ السَهَر

With the beloved's company, the night talk is delightful,

And my eyes relish the long wakefulness.

إِذا أَنا نادَمتُهُ مَرَّةً

كَفاني بِهِ اللَهُ ضَوءَ القَمَر

When I reproach him once,

God suffices me with the moonlight.

إِرعَ المُنى واصِلاً وَإِن هَجَرا

فَاِجزَع فَشَرُّ العُشّاقِ مَن صَبَرا

Visit the hopes often even if they abandon you,

So cry often, for the worst lovers are those who endured.

ما أَحسَنَ الصَبرَ في مَواطِنِهِ

لا عَن حَبيبٍ لِطِيَّةٍ بَكَرا

How good is patience in its contexts,

Not from a loving, gentle, virgin beloved.

لَم يَستَطِع ظاهِرَ الوَداعِ مِنَ ال

عَينِ فَأَوحى السَلامَ مُستَتِرا

He couldn't overtly bid farewell,

So he secretly bid peace with the eye.
