People have dragged the trailing hems of suspicion over us,
And divided what they say of us into many versions.
An ignorant man has cast suspicion on someone other than you,
While one who spoke truly does not know that he spoke true.
This one and that suppose what they do not know,
And my eyes’ weeping has spoken of what I hide.
