بِاللَهِ يا غَضبانُ أَلا رَضيت
أَحافِظٌ لِلعَهدِ أَم قَد نَسيت
By God, O angry one, will you not relent?
Will you honor the pledge, or have you forgotten?
أَلَم تَكُن مِن قَبلُ عاهَدتَني
أَنَّكَ لا تَهجُرُني ما حَيِيت
Did you not once pledge to me
that you would never forsake me as long as I lived?
هَبنيَ قَد مُتُّ بِهَذا الهَوى
فَما الَّذي يُرضيكَ مِن أَن أَموت
Suppose that I have died of this love—
then what is it about my dying that would satisfy you?
