1. دوَما نَزَحَت لِلعَينِ بَعدَكِ عَبرَةٌ

    إِذا اِنحَدَرَت قادَت لَها أَخَواتِ

    Ever since you left, a tear has continually welled in my eye;

    whenever it falls, it leads its sisters after it.

  2. وَأَستَرزِقُ الرَحمَن لِلعَينِ نَظرَةً

    إِلَيكِ تُداويها مِنَ العَبَراتِ

    And I seek from the All-Merciful, as provision for my eye, one glance

    toward you, to heal it of its tears.

  3. فَإِن مُتُّ بِالشَوقِ الَّذي بي إِلَيكُمُ

    فَتِلكَ لَعَمري حَسرَةُ الحَسَراتِ

    If I should die of the longing within me for you,

    then that—by my life—would be the anguish of all anguishes.
