قَد كُنتُ أَبكي وَأَنتِ راضِيَةٌ
حِذارَ هَذا الصُدودِ وَالغَضَبِ
I used to weep while you were content
Beware of this aloofness and anger
فَاليَومَ إِذ حَلَّ يا ظَلومُ الَّذي
حاذَرتُ أَلقى الوَفاةَ عَن كَثَبِ
But today, O unjust one, when it came
I feared I would die in a moment
إِن دامَ ذا الهَجرُ يا ظَلومُ وَلا
دامَ فَما لي في العَيشِ مِن أَرَبِ
If this estrangement persists, O unjust one
And it persists, I have no joy in life
