My fears my coldness would not see undone
You feared my turning away, yet that is not to be,
Were followed by a love sleep stole from mine eyes
For a love has intervened, rendering my eyes sleepless.
And had I patience I could say maybe
If I possessed any patience, I might have said, "Perchance
I'm cold but, by God, patient I'm not
I shall turn away," but by God, I have no patience.
