غَداً يُنكِرُ القَومُ الَّذينَ تَخَلَّفوا

مُقامي وَلَولا أَنتِ لَم أَتَخَلَّفِ

Tomorrow the people will deny those who fell behind

My standing, and were it not for you I would not have fallen behind

لَقَد عَرَّضَتني لِلظُنونِ صَبابَتي

وَوُقِّفتُ لِلواشينَ في غَيرِ مَوقِفِ

Indeed my youth exposed me to suspicions

And I was made to stand before the slanderers in places not meant for standing
