وظَبْيٍ أُفكِّر في تِيهِهِ
فلا يحْظُر الوصلُ في خاطِرِي
And a gazelle—I contemplate his haughtiness;
so union does not enter my thoughts.
حَبانِي مُجَرَّدَ وَعْدٍ له
كَلَيْلِي عليه بلا آخِرِ
He bestowed upon me a mere promise of his,
like my night because of him—without end.
