1. ثقِيلُ رُوحٍ أنْكَرُوا وَطْأَهُ

    نَرْجِسَ رَوضٍ حُفَّ بالسَّوْسَنِ

    A heavy spirit they denied its weight

    A narcissus of a garden ringed with lilies

  2. فقلتُ غُضُّوا الطَّرْفَ عن وَضْعِهِ

    فإنَّه يَمْشِي على الأعْيُنِ

    So I said: “Avert your eyes from where he treads”

    For he walks upon the eyes
