  1. فقالوا شَهدنا إِنك السابق الَّذي

    بَراهنه بِالحَق تَقضى وَتَشهد

    They said: "We testify that you are the foremost

    Who pledged with truth, judges and bears witness.

  2. عَجزنا وَلا دَفعٌ لَنا في الَّذي بِهِ

    أَتيت وَقَول الحَق فَرض مُؤكد

    We are helpless, and have no defence against that

    With which you came, and the word of truth is a firm duty.

  3. وَإِن عَلياً جاءَ بِالباطل الَّذي

    قَد أَخزاه حَتّى قَد عَراه التبلد

    And Ali came with falsehood, which

    Disgraced him until denial has stripped him bare.

  4. وَمَن يَنتحل ما لَيسَ فيهِ بمحسنٍ

    فَذَلك عِندَ الامتحان المُفند

    He who claims what he has no right to

    Is, at the time of trial, found wanting."
